Admin/Biograhical HistoryThe Westwood Works Apprentice School opened in 1954. Baker Perkins were pioneers in the development of programmed instruction for use in industrial training. The types of apprentice accepted were craft, works technicians, drawing office, and students and graduates. The Apprentice School closed in 1991 after 38 years. The building is still there today, and has been occupied by various companies over the years. The exterior is preserved in its original state as it is now a designated listed building and, along with the Holdings Company offices next door, is all that remains of the site known as 'Westwood Works'.
